This project was part of Level Design course hosted by SKVOT. It's premise was to learn how to use the Unreal Engine 5 to create a functioning level for a game, in this case, an action-adventure. While this genre is not exactly my cup of tea, I gladly took on the challenge as sometimes I will be forced to come out of my comfort zone, so this was a great opportunity to experinece such shift.
The course lasted around 3 months, which while sounds a lot, turned out to be quite tight, but I managed to get it to the end. Even then I decided to take a bit more time to work on the level to iron out some stuff, mostly in the beggining area. It's still rough around the edges and the AI is missing for the most part, but I'm no programmer so I decided to cut my loses and focus on what is really important to me.
Which leads me to the level itself. We recieved a basic premise and a bubble diagram and were told to pretty much go all out. Well I did went all in on this one. The terrain visible here isn't that different from what I got at the start. My whole reasoning for quite an extreme terrain was "who said islands can't have mountains?" and rolled with it. Yes I had to move things a bit in relation to the diagram, but it was fine the end.
Overall I'm pretty content with what I got here. If I could I'd probably tackle the Temple differently and for certain would like to implement proper AI, but considering how little time I have on hand currently, that would probably end up as another 3 months that I would rather spent making something new.
