Forgotten Dreams

This map is a lesson about consequences of overestimation. Where my previous map for malice jam had no plan whatsoever, this time I went with a plan that was unfeasable to execute in a timely manner. Not only that, but I also broke a lot of limits original quake had to ridiculous level.

Take the city segment for example. 90% of it is just a background and yet it occupies 60% of the map real estate. That's just a waste of space. Similarily, the houses also takes a lot of space despite the small playable area. It's honestly funny how all the segments can be completed in a similar time and yet these two are pretty much the majority of the levels geometry. Go look at it from noclip, you'll probably have a laugh. There's also the fact that I'm not good at detailing and combining it with overly ambitious plans I ended up leaving a lot of empty space.

The map is very easy to get lost in, but I believe that's ok at this point. The whole point is to get lost in those spaces, but again, due to my ambition it's more of a proof of concept than an actual level. I still tried my best, but at it's core, it's just a maze.

Now for the fun fact. After you completed all 4 segments, there was supposed to be another. A literal Escher labirynth, with all the mind bending shenaningans. I scrapped that idea, because of... well, you already know.

If there is anything get from this, remember, DO NOT aim for the Moon from the depths of Marianna trench when you only have a week to bild a rocket as I did with this map. It'll end up as a dissapointment.

Side note: If you have troubles finding the map from the start map, you can type "map lim_daviddg" in console and you'll be loaded into my map right away.
